ENCUENTROS LATENTES

Short meetings on the research of movement, improvisation, and composition.

Hello, I hope you're all well.

I'm delighted to announce a new phase of the labs: LATENTE en el AMBIENTE (Latent in the Environment).

This time, the intention is to create spaces for dancing, improvising, and composing together.

For some time now, I've been researching the concept of "latent," thinking about it from the idea that something is hidden, waiting, not yet perceptible, but has the capacity to emerge and become visible/audible/perceptible at any moment. This idea is suggestive and inspiring to me when I work within the framework of improvisation or instant composition. It allows me to connect with the body/movement in a more present state, and from there, play, imagine, divert, transform, or develop a material, texture, or imaginary.

This initiative is not intended to be conformist; it is not based on the cliché "it is what it is." Quite the opposite, it seeks to vindicate and reveal the potential of what we have, whether in our own bodies or beside them, nearby, or at hand, more or less evident, but in a latent state, about to emerge, only needing, perhaps, time/space and a certain willingness to appear.

Each session will have a research focus; the first part of the meeting will be dedicated to activating the body and our perception, and then generating spaces for joint practice and composition.

Biography

CECILIA COLACRAI

Dancer, independent creator, and contemporary dance teacher.

I currently lead various artistic projects such as R.A.V.E. (Revolutionary Agglomeration for Voluntary Extermination), RUGE, and research projects such as LATENTE en el AMBIENTE, among others. I co-direct the Big Bouncers Collective with Mireia de Querol and Anna Rubirola (www.bigbouncers.info), and collaborate with various artists such as Joao Lima, Carlota Subirós, and the Mal Pelo company.

I am interested in exploring performance languages, improvisation, instant composition, and research into transmission methodologies.

I have been teaching since 1997 in Argentina, Barcelona, and other cities in Europe and Latin America.

I am part of the teaching team at the Institut del Teatre (CSD and CPD) and the Moveo physical theater school.
