Introduction to contemporary dance

In these classes, we will delve into the fundamental elements of contemporary dance, such as floorwork, movement exploration and the mechanisms that govern the body.

Through these approaches, we aim for each person to explore and understand the relationship between the body, space, and movement. Furthermore, we will place a special emphasis on developing improvisation, using basic tools that will allow each individual to engage with musicality, space, and their relationship with others.

These classes are designed for anyone, regardless of their previous dance experience. The aim is for each participant to expand their movement vocabulary, discover new ways of moving, and gain confidence in their personal expression.

Payment and class recovery policy: Each student can recover 2 classes if they take a full course and 1 class if they take a half-course, by attending a session from another course organised by La Visiva. (Introduction to Contemporary Dance with Blanca Tolsá, Introduction to Contemporary Dance with Vasilis Maltampes or Practices around the Body and Creation with Èlia Genís). Once the course fee has been paid, no refunds can be given, nor can sessions be used for another course or term.

Biography

Vasilis Maltampes

Born in Athens, he began his dance journey in Thessaloniki. In 2022, he moved to Barcelona to train on the professional programme at Àrea, Espai de Dansa i Creació. Since then, he has collaborated with various artists and companies, including L'Émerveillée, Anna Rubirola, Núria Guiu, Valeria Polorena, Mikkel Tøttrup and La Taimada. She is currently developing her own projects that explore movement as a space for research, creation and encounter. She combines artistic practice with teaching, and enjoys sharing classes and workshops focused on body awareness, improvisation and contemporary dance.
