How can we access expression and composition directly?

In this workshop, I want to begin by finding ease within our dancing and performing bodies a state of openness to any input that moves through us. We will deepen the technical skills I share in the regular profi trainings, bringing them into the realm of performance and composition.

We will explore how information flows from our instrument the body and the voice and how clearly and directly we communicate. From movement to voice, from words to dialogue: how can we unveil the poetic potential of a situation? How do sound and language carry their own life, beyond meaning?

We will train our capacity to make choices and take responsibility for their consequences, following what our actions set in motion. This means embracing the unknown without judgment but with critical awareness fully inhabiting the present moment, and drawing strength from its endless possibilities. Work with Objects might be part of the exploration.

Biography

Manel Salas Palau

After studying Physical Education, Manel Salas started his artistic career as a, dancer, teacher and choreographer of Hip-Hop in Barcelona. Pretty soon he started to work in different fields including, TV commercials, films, his own pieces and dancing with different dance companies like Metros of Ramon Oller and the flamenco company Color.

In 2008 he received his BA in contemporary dance at Codarts, Rotterdam Dance Academy. Searching for his interest in the performing arts, he discovered and studied mime, theatre, improvisation, butoh, and acrobatics. Since then, he keeps busy dancing and teaching.

As a free lance dancer collaborating in several international theatre dance companies, and artist , more than 50 productions in different countries around the world as, the Chinese Paper Tiger theatre company, Kammerspiele Munich, Julyen Hamilton, Angels Margarit, David Zambrano, Jerome Bell, Cobosmika dance company, Amy Raymond, Editta Braun company, Arno Schuitemaker, Vloeistof, among many more.

Since 2018 he is based betwen Switzerland and Barcelona articulating his own vision, teaching , creating and performing his own work. Like, Miratge 2022 , Destil 2021, El Enmascarado 2020, Senyals 2019, Imaginarium Frame 2019-2016. Presenting them internationally in festivals and venues in China, Rusia, Spain, Holland , France and Swittzerland. Besides his own work he keeps collaborating with other international artist and as well with Swiss artist like Cie ZeitSprung, Jens Biederman, Jasmine Morand, Oliver Dahler, Corsing Gaudenz, composer Dominique Girod, Kolypan, among others .

In the last 10 years his personal practise and development is in the art of Instant Compositions, and sharing creative process with other artist from different art forms and backgrounds, musicians, film makers,

In 2019 Manel founded the association Wendig together with the artist and doctor Philip Amann.

Manel was honored with a cultural prize from the city of Zurich in 2020.

He continuous his practice exploring and sharing the different angles of performing arts and it’s possibilities in education and performing through creativity.
